ABOUT ME

Bowfishing for Alligator Gar, Buffalo, Carp, Catfish and Tilapia is what I love to do, and Bowfish Texas Adventures can to take you on a bowfishing trip you won't forget. My name is Kurt Hintze of Bowfish Texas Adventures. I have been bowfishing since 1973...35 years of experience that has included 9 different states. I have spent all of my adult life working in the outdoor industry. I have worked for companies like PSE, Browning, Cabela's and Sportsmans Warehouse, and have been a staff shooter for several companies. I have guided from Montana to south Texas and have been fortunate enough to hunt all over North America, including Alaska, Canada and also in Africa. I got my first guides license in 1987 and have been guiding, outfitting and teaching people about the outdoors for over twenty years. Bowfishing big Alligator Gar and Buffalo is what I truly have a passion for.  Finding big fish is what I know how to do. If you haven't had the opportunity to hunt these dinosaurs, or even if you have, I promise this will be the bowfishing adventure of a lifetime.

CATFISH

Catfish are another fish available to shoot here in Texas. We have Blues, Channels, and Flatheads (Yellow cats)in all of our waters. Average (eating size) fish are seen regularly. They offer a lot of shooting and great eating. We often shoot  big cats, particularly in the spring.

LONGNOSE GAR

Bowfish Texas Adventures clients probably shoot more Longnose Gar than anything. Many people shoot small Longnose, but there are also  really big Longnose. We often shoot them in the 20#+ range . They can be a challenging target and are great practice for the Alligator Gar.

 TARGET RICH ENVIRONMENTS

Texas is the best place to chase big Alligator Gar. They are found in almost all south Texas bodies of water. Great bowfishing is available year round.I bowfish lakes and rivers all over Texas and choose the best location for you based on the time of the year and current conditions. Based on conditions I will give you options you can choose from. I am currently scouting some exciting new locations that I will add to the list of options soon. Either day or night bowfishing is possible. Whether we bowfish a lake or a river the quality of shooting will be the best available.

Everyone is always excited about Alligator Gar but don't forget the other targets Texas has to offer. Buffalo are a big strong fish that are in a lot of lakes here. We shoot a LOT of Buffalo over 20 lbs and most nights some over 30 and sometimes over 40 lbs.

 We have a lot of Common Carp and they are a fun fish to shoot. Although we don't typically have the high end potential for the really big Carp found in other areas,we occasionally shoot some in the 30 pound range.

Bowfishing with Bowfish Texas Adventures is an exciting, affordable trip that you will not forget. We are set up  for any shooter from beginner to pro. Even if you have never bowfished, or are just starting, we will give you personalized instruction before and on the water. Everyone can be successful!  As long as the weather allows us on the water I guarantee you will have fish to shoot at on every trip!

EQUIPMENT

We run a 22' by 8' Xpress center console with a Yamaha 115HP 4-stroke. The boat has a hydraulic jack plate and a tunnel so we can get into shallow areas. The boat has 175 watt Metal Halides powered by a Yamaha generator. This light setup puts out over 100,000 lumens of light. You can definately see at night!! Shooting is done off of a custom built, elevated deck with safety rails. There is room for 4 shooters, but we prefer to limit it to 2 or 3 shooters at a time to give everyone the best opportunities. All of the electrical was run before the boat was completed so there are no exposed wires laying on the floor and all of the lights run through GFCI outlets for safety. Our equipment includes both Barracudas and recurves. You are welcome to shoot either or bring your own. Our bows are set up with and without floats to be used depending on the conditions. All equipment is in top condition, and we also carry spare bows,reels, line and arrows by the dozens.
